UpScales Fashions 43 Brings Passionate Fashion Vision to Couture Fashion Week

Texas-based designer Evelyn Suzette (Scales) Johnson will return to Couture Fashion Week New York with the presentation of the latest collection for her UpScales Fashions 43 label. Part of the 24th season of the prestigious event, the fashion show will be held at 6:00 pm on Saturday September 10, 2016 at the Crowne Plaza Times Square Manhattan, 1605 Broadway, at the “Crossroads of the World.”

UpScales Fashions 43 is a fashion brand driven by the goal to design beautifully fitted clothing that makes the wearer comfortable and happy, reflecting each client’s unique personality. It especially strives to create a new dimension on the use of denim. Many designs are inspired by “retro” silhouettes and styles, especially from the 1960’s.

Designer Evelyn Johnson holds a degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Networking Engineering and has worked in the electronics field for more than 30 years. She currently works at Texas Instruments in Dallas, Texas. Her true passion has always been fashion, however, and she is now making that dream a reality with her own clothing line, UpScales Fashions 43. Ms. Johnson’s love for fashion began with a needle and thread at the age of 7, and she soon learned to use her mother’s sewing machine. After high school she worked at Levis Strauss & Co. for 10 years, where she gained experience making professional jeans as well as discovering her love for denim fabrics. This valuable knowledge and experience led to the launch of her own company.

“The smile and joy that clothing a person brings, makes me want to do this more and more every day —I find that this is my true calling.” says Evelyn Johnson. “My dream is to one day clothe America — all sizes, shapes, and ages.”

Designer Narine Tovmasyan Returns to Couture Fashion Week

Russian design star Narine Tovmasyan will present her latest collection at Couture Fashion Week New York’s 24th season. Marking the designer’s second appearance at the prestigious event, the fashion show will be held at 6:00 pm on Saturday September 10, 2016 at the Crowne Plaza Times Square Manhattan.

Narine Tovmasyan is known for creating unique clothes for real fashion lovers. With the theme “Live for Beauty”, her creations strive to connect Renaissance styles with the modern age. Couture Fashion Week Heads to Nepal

Designer and Couture Fashion Week New York founder and producer Andres Aquino will show his recent collection entitled “Romancing the Himalayas” at the Nepal Couture Fashion gala event. The show will be held at the Hyatt Regency Kathmandu on August 13, 2016. The event marks Mr. Aquino’s first runway show in Nepal which will feature a selection of his signature luxurious, feminine and wearable gowns.

“I am looking forward to finding new inspirations in the stunning natural beauty of this Himalayan country, known as the rooftop of the world,” says Mr. Aquino. He will be traveling to Nepal with four talented models: Belgica Suarez (Miss Honduras Universe), Sendy Caceres (Miss Paraguay Earth), Nea McClin from Finland; and New York runway model and stylist Kelsie McKenna. In Nepal the group will be joined by actress Shristi Shrestha (Miss Nepal 2012), Anjali Lama (1st Face of Panache Runway), Malina Joshi (Miss Nepal World 2011), celebrity model Aastha Pokharel, Puza Stha (contestant for Miss Nepal 2015 and Miss Talent 2015), tecno artist Anish Anand, actor Gaurav Pahari, and a number of models, celebrities and VIPS. International model, actor and entertainment executive Deepak Ghimire, whom Mr. Aquino met and worked with in New York on a special Nepal showcase, has been instrumental in organizing the Nepal event.

Couture Fashion Week New York will be entering its 24th season in September 2016 as one of New York’s most prestigious fashion week events. Mr. Aquino is also the founder and director or the Global Short Film Awards, now entering its second year with events in New York and Cannes, France, among other cities.

The Nepal visit by Mr. Aquino and his associates will also include:

Sofia Turekova Brings Stunning Avant-Garde Designs to Couture Fashion Week

Up and coming design star Sofia Turekova will present the latest inspired collection for her SOF.T label at Couture Fashion Week New York at 8:00 pm on Friday September 9, 2016. Part of the event’s 24th season, the runway show will be held at the Crowne Plaza Times Square Manhattan, New York City, in the heart of the Big Apple.

A native of Slovakia, designer Sofia Turekova is currently studying at the prestigious Central Saint Martins University in London. She began her career path at a young age, participating in many local and foreign fashion contests and shows. Slovakia and its culture has had a strong impact on her artwork. In 2013 the Slovak National Museum presented her folk-influenced fashion collection “Ornament” at the Maison de l’Artisanat et des Métiers d’Art in Marseille, France. In 2015 she was named the winning designer at Bratislava Fashion Days.

Ms. Turekova’s designs are conceptual and often dramatic, incorporating varying shapes aiming to express feelings via transparency and construction. The Sofia woman does not use low necklines and transparency to seduce. The Sofia woman is a confident, fearless female who can be just as seductive without revealing too much. Applied garment patterns in Ms. Turekova’s collections border between art and wearability, striving to provide the wearer with a relaxed feeling of tasteful elegance.

Sofia Turekova’s exceptional talent is catapulting her straight onto the New York Fashion Week scene with the presentation of the avant-garde collection “The Optimist” at Couture Fashion Week.

Mira Indria to Show Artistically Exquisite Designs at Couture Fashion Week

Indonesian designer Mira Indria will make her debut at Couture Fashion Week New York with a highly-anticipated fashion show at 6:00 pm on Saturday September 10, 2016. The event will be held in the Broadway Ballroom of the Crowne Plaza Times Square Manhattan, New York City.

A rising star on the competitive Indonesian fashion design scene, Mira Indria has been pursuing her career for about 5 years. A native of Bandung, Indonesia, Ms. Indria previously was a singer, who designed her own outfits for her performances. But over time, she learned couture design techniques and began to pursue that avenue professionally.

Mira Indria’s couture designs are classy, elegant, and glamorous, just like her own personality. Her designs incorporate exquisite artistic elements and details, yet are not overly complicated. Each beautiful gown is a masterpiece, taking a long time to finish. Initially, Ms. Indria’s inspiration was the “kebaya”, a traditional Indonesian dress. The classic kebaya design is flattering to all women’s figures, and the designer used it as a basis for many gowns. She strives to make every woman wearing her designs feel comfortable and beautiful.

After two years pursuing her haute couture in Indonesia, Mira Indria is looking to develop her label internationally, and Couture Fashion Week New York is her first international event. Ms. Indria hopes her collection will be embraced by fashion lovers in the USA, and especially in New York.

Rising Design Star Karishma Sondhi to Debut at Couture Fashion Week

Rising Indian design star Karishma Sondhi will present her latest creations on the runway during the upcoming 24th season of Couture Fashion Week New York. The fashion show will be held at 6:00 pm on Saturday September 10, 2016 in the Broadway Ballroom of the Crowne Plaza Times Square Manhattan, 1605 Broadway, New York City. Karishma Sondhi studied at the Pearl Academy at Nottingham Trent University UK, the Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan and Heriot Watt University in Scotland. Her studies and hands-on experience with such renowned brands as Victoria’s Secret, Lululemon, Brandix, MAS Holdings and Quantum, among others, gave her expertise in textiles, manufacturing, fashion marketing, retail, management and finance, as well as brand communication. Ms. Sondhi worked as a stylist for the iconic Italian brand Diesel, dressing models for the runway in Milan. She was selected as a representative on behalf of India in the United Kingdom by the renowned luxury brand Harvey Nichols in Edinburgh to design a promotional strategy and ad campaign. She went on to intern with Indian fashion designer Pawan Sachdeva, and soon launched her own fashion label “Karishma Sondhi – Bridal-Couture-Pret.”

From her studio in Punjabi Bagh, New Delhi, Ms. Sondhi caters to her clientele: the modern woman looking to enhance her image with classy yet trendy garments. Whether the look is ready-to-wear or custom couture, Karishma Sondhi’s designer style comes through. All her designs are unique with a focus on impeccable cuts and silhouettes, draping and fit. She uses rich fabrics including silks and brocades, featuring fine detailing and opulent colors. Ms. Sondhi’s designs are mainly inspired by the rich Indian cultural heritage and a mix of western sensibilities from around the world. She is also inspired by elegant royal cuts and embroideries from the Victorian and Mughal eras juxtaposed with modern 21^st century trends.

Brazilian Designer Silvia Ulson to Present Innovative Denim Designs at Couture Fashion Week

Prominent Brazilian fashion designer Silvia Ulson will present her latest collection of womenswear at Couture Fashion Week New York at the Crowne Plaza Times Square Manhattan. Part of the event’s 23rd season, the fashion show will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday February 13, 2016.

Silvia Ulson studied fashion design at Massart (Massachusetts College of Art and Design) in Boston and at F.I.T. (Fashion Institute of Technology) in New York. She has worked with several top fashion brands, including Carolina Herrera for three years. Now based in Sao Paulo, Ms. Ulson founded the beachwear brand Silu Designs, which has been shown at such fashion events as Miami Fashion Week. Her signature label is SU, which caters to to women who seek exclusivity and quality. The designs feature fine fabrics and rich embellishments such as embroidery. Cosmopolitan and sophisticated, SU conveys an unpretentious, casual-chic message.

Award-Winning Designer Addy van den Krommenacker To Show at Couture Fashion Week New York

Award-winning Dutch designer Addy van den Krommenacker will show his latest collection at the upcoming 23rd season of Couture Fashion Week New York. The highly anticipated fashion show will take place at 8:00 pm on Sunday February 14, 2016 in the Broadway Ballroom of the Crowne Plaza Times Square Manhattan, 1605 Broadway, at the “Crossroads of the World.”

Mr. van den Krommenacker has had a great interest in fashion since childhood. He began his career as a fashion retailer and buyer, and his expert fashion advice soon became sought after by many Dutch celebrities including Sandra Reemer and Willeke Alberti en Jette van der Meij. After selling clothes by international designers for a number of years, Mr. van den Krommenacker launched his own collection in 2001, and his career really took off.

Mr. van den Krommenacker’s first designs were shown at the Beau Monde Fashion Awards in 2002, and in 2003 he launched his entire haute couture collection. Since then, he has shown his designs at many prestigious fashion events including Alta Moda in Rome, Jakarta Fashion Week in Indonesia, Amsterdam Fashion Week and Perth Fashion Week in Australia, as well as at events in Kazakhstan, Sarajevo, Montenegro, Belgium, Budapest, Sicily, and Kuala Lumpur, among others. His designs have also been featured on the hit TV show America’s Next Top Model, in which top model and host Tyra Banks wore a stunning gown specially designed by Addy van den Krommenacker. The episode aired in over 130 countries. His designs have been worn by many international celebrities and socialites including actress Thekla Reuten who wore one of his gowns at the Academy Awards in Hollywood, Glennis Grace who performed in one of his gowns at the Eurovision Song Contest, Australian top model and pro golfer Anna Rawson, actress Carly Steel, actress Sofia Milos (CSI Miami), singer Mayra Veronica, three-time golden Globe Award Winner Mary Lou Henner, and Dutch celebrities including Tooske Ragas, Chantal Janzen, Estelle Cruijf and Wendy van Dijk. He has designed bridal gowns for the wives of soccer stars Ruud van Nistelrooy, Wesley Sneijder and Joris Mathijsen, among others. He has shown his designs at the Cannes Film Festival where Courtney Love and Lady Victoria Hervey both wore dresses designed by him.

His numerous accolades include being awarded membership to the prestigious Swiss Camera Nazionale Moda in Lugano and being knighted into the Order of Orange-Nassau by Her Majesty Queen Beatrix in recognition of his outstanding work and achievements in Dutch fashion. The real pinnacle of his career, however, was being requested to design a wedding gown for Princess Carolina of Bourbon-Parma. Both the veil and gown featured heirloom embroidery lace, which had originally been worn by her mother, Princess Irene, on her wedding day almost 50 years before. This spectacular gown was then perfectly complemented by two elegant Krommenacker outfits for both the mother and sister of the bride on that special day. During the inauguration of King Willem Alexander in 2013 in Amsterdam, the Princesses Irene, Margarita, Annette and Aimée, as well as the wife of the mayor of Amsterdam, Femke van der Laan wore creations by Mr. van den Krommenacker.

Recently, Addy van den Krommenacker launched his signature perfume, “Red Carpet,” and began a collaboration with the fashion chain Steps to create an affordable collection for a wide audience.

Marisol Henriquez Brings “Sources of Elegance” Collection to Couture Fashion Week

Dominican designer Marisol Henriquez will return to Couture Fashion Week New York with the presentation of her latest collection entitled “Sources of Elegance.” A regular favorite with CFW audiences, Ms. Henriquez’s fashion show will be held at 6:00 pm on Sunday February 14, 2016 at the Crowne Plaza Times Square Manhattan, 1605 Broadway in New York City.

The Autumn-Winter 2016 collection is inspired by a confident and defiant feminine aesthetic, with each ensemble exuding elegance, glamour and style. Marisol Henriquez’s distinctive designs are characterized by the use of beautiful textures and colors as well as brilliant contrasts adding a magical touch to each piece. Luxurious fabrics include silk charmeuse, shantung silk, tulle, and shimmering metallics. Her predominant colors this season are silver, black, gold, and iridescent purple. This season she introduces new styles featuring Mermaid and Princess silhouettes, flattering to the female figure, as well as biased and fluid dresses. Essential sets of jackets and skirts add a versatile touch to the collection. All the designs have a great appeal for the fashionistas always striving to be at the forefront of style.
