Soprano Kaja Pecnik to Perform at 22nd Season of Couture Fashion Week NY

Singer and Actress Kaja PecnikIn her first appearance at Couture Fashion Week New York, London-based singer Kaja Pecnik will perform at 8:00 pm on Friday September 11 and 8:00 pm on Saturday September 12, 2015. Part of the 22nd festive season of the prestigious event, the fashion shows and performances will be held at the Crowne Plaza Times Square Manhattan, in the heart New York City.

A native of Slovenia, Kaja Pecnik is a soprano and actress whose performances are described as powerfully emotive and a definite stand-out. Her voice is truly inspiring, with a tenderness that touches the soul. Although her heart lies in opera and musical theatre, she successfully writes and performs her own pop and folk songs . Kaja is not just a singer, she is a performer who takes her audience on a journey with every note she sings. Kaja graduated from Cygnet Theatre, UK and has worked with major opera singers in her native country, including Rajko Koritnik and Amanda Stojovic. In 2014 her first solo concert, In Love With Love, premiered in Exeter, UK and Ljubljana, Slovenia to rave reviews. An extremely versatile artist, Kaja’s acting repertoire covers such plays as Playhouse Creatures (Mrs. Betterton), Twelfth Night (Sir Andrew Aguecheek), Nine (1), The Last Nickel (Jamie) and, most recently, Triumph of Love, where she played the leading role of Phosion. She has been praised by critics as an actress with “a witty charisma quickly winning the audience over and as she charms and improvises her way through the play, she is unquestionably the one who steals the show.” (Lucy Corley). Kaja has also appeared in short movies and music videos. Among a number of projects currently underway is her upcoming starring role with major acting industry names in The Composer, a feature film produced by talented Hollywood composer William Camilleri (Braveheart, Silence of the Lambs, etc.).

Singer Stella Matteoni Returns to Couture Fashion Week New York

Singer Stella MatteoniIn addition to the fabulous fashion shows and parties, Couture Fashion Week NY has become well-known for its regular presentation of talented world-class performers. In her second appearance at Couture Fashion Week New York, rising singing star Stella Matteoni will perform at 6:00 pm on Friday September 11 and at 8:00 pm on Saturday September 12, 2015.

Stella Matteoni is a singer, songwriter and musician born in the South of France. She has been going to recording studios and backstage at concerts in France her whole life. Her father, Guy Matteoni, is a legendary writer-arranger whose career goes back to the 1970s. Stella has opened for such renowned performers as Umberto Tozzi and Dave, who asked Stella to perform five songs in support of his Olympia concerts in 2014. Also in 2014, Stella was named one of five winners of the international “Be a Rockstar” contest by Black XS Paco Rabanne. She has recorded two songs mixed by Darrell Thorp (Radiohead, Beck, Outkast…) at the legendary ICP Studio in Brussels. Her early 2015 performances at Couture Fashion Week received an enthusiastic reception from the delighted audiences.

Fashion Meets Broadway in “Gotham Nights” by Designer Andres Aquino

Designer Andres Aquino will present his latest collection entitled “Gotham Nights” at Couture Fashion Week New York’s upcoming 21st season. The runway fashion show will be held at 8:00 pm on Valentine’s Day, Saturday February 14, 2015 in the Broadway Ballroom of the Crowne Plaza Times Square Manhattan, in the heart of the city.

“Gotham Nights” is dedicated to the Gotham City Muse, a woman who dwells in a place where cool meets sexy in the city that never sleeps; a poetic place where myriad legends are created every night, and stories are told with beauty, style and gorgeous fashions. Beyond the fashion show, there is art, music, dance and enchantment, hallmarks of the prolific designer’s presentations for many seasons at one of New York Fashion Week’s most prestigious events. The highly anticipated show will be followed by the Valentine’s Ball.

Among the stunning models walking the show will be several winners of the Top Model Vietnam competition.

An array of talented performers are sure to dazzle the audience as part of the show, including:

Leah Danielle – Verissimo soprano and solo concert singer who has performed with legendary tenor Andrea Boccelli and appeared at Carnegie Hall. She sang in her first movie soundtrack for the Universal Studios film Prime, and has performed many operatic roles including Musetta in La Boheme, Liu in Turandot, Contessa in Le Nozze Di Figaro, and Drusilla in L’Incoronazione di Poppea.

Salome Katamadze – Singing sensation from the Republic of Georgia, she is a winner of X Factor and other major European music festivals. She has performed at numerous music events throughout Europe.

Nini DeRossi – Native of the Republic of Georgia, now based in New York, she is the winner of the TV competitions 10 + 10 (Armenia) and X Factor (Greece), as well as being a finalist in Georgia’s Georgian Idol. Her poignant rendition of Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You at CFW thrilled the audience.

Stella Matteoni – Singer-songwriter from the South of France, she is a rising star on the European popular music scene.

Panic! The Musical Singers – With their sights set on Broadway, the ensemble performs the songs of the American rock band Panic! At The Disco. The group includes Broadway and off-Broadway entertainers led by Alexis Acar.

Ryan Raffloer and Hanna Sverdlov – A crowd-thrilling, high energy dance duo.

Veronica Iovan and Antonio Abate – Veronica is a talented young soprano who has performed at prestigious events and venues around the world, and is a popular regular performer at CFW. Antonio is a tenor whose extensive repertoire ranges from sacred music to Broadway tunes to classic opera. The duet will perform a Broadway classic at the “Gotham Nights” show.

Broadway Musical Stars to Perform at Couture Fashion Week

In keeping with his signature show style, designer and producer Andres Aquino will bring a roster of talented and accomplished Broadway musical stars to perform during his upcoming “Mon Amour”collection fashion show. Couture Fashion Week New York is pleased to present an exceptional showcase of fashion and cultural entertainment from India at its upcoming event. Coordinated by theNortheast India Academy of Performing Arts, it will include fashion shows by designers Amritraj Bora, Ikali Sukhalu and Daniel Syiem, as well as  a performance by a cultural tribal troupe from the Northeast India region of Nagaland. The show will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday February 15, 2014 in the Grand Ballroom of the landmark New Yorker Hotel, 481 Eighth Avenue in the city’s Fashion District.

Amritraj Bora is a fashion designer from New Delhi and a rising star among the multitude of fashion talents rapidly putting India on the global fashion map. His distinctive designs reflect a love for nostalgia, a glance into the future and eventually a fascination towards the many nuances of the progressively decadent woman. Amritraj was trained at the export fashion houses where he worked for Prada, Chloe, Roberto Cavalli, Allsaint and other European high fashion brands. He launched his own label in 2012.

Amritraj was chosen by the Ponds Femina Miss India as the finale gown designer for Miss Earth 2012, and in 2013 he served as the finale gown designer for Miss World and Miss Heritage World. Many Bollywood divas have worn his creations for the FILMFARE and IFFA red carpet awards ceremonies. He has done numerous fashion shows and received many accolades. His clients include Malaika Arora Khan, Sonal Chauhan, Esha Gupta, Mugdha Godse, and Gauhar Khan among many other celebrities from the film, fashion and corporate worlds.

Award winning designer Daniel Syiem has presented his collections at numerous fashion shows throughout India including Lakme Fashion Week, Rajasthan Fashion Week, Hyderabad Fashion Week, Indian Fashion Summit (New Dehli) and Oriflame. His impressive collection of awards recognizes his unique international style and focus on promoting organic and ethnic materials exclusive to the Northeast region of India. His forte in western wear is apparent in the clean silhouettes, seamless fluidity and interesting drapes in his designs.

Blending fashion and style with the essence of traditional cloth, the label Daniel Syiem has started making waves in the country. His designs have been featured in top magazines including Eclectic North-East, Grazia, Elle, Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar. He recently presented his Autumn/Winter collection at Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2013 to wide acclaim by fashion insiders and the media.

Ikali Sukhalu‘s creations are a fusion of modern influences and Naga ethnic wear. Her latest collection is inspired by the rich weaving traditions of the tribes of Nagaland and the legendary silks of Assam. The collection blends these two distinct weaving traditions creating pieces that have relevance outside the cultural mould. Tribal motifs and hand woven fabrics nestle on modern silhouettes to bring the ancient opulence of chiefs to the streets of today.
