Beverly Hills-based designer Shekhar Rehate will show his latest collection on the runway at the next Couture Fashion Week in New York. Part of the “Jewel of India” collective fashion show, the event will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday September 16, 2012 in the Grand Ballroom of the legendary Waldorf-Astoria.

Shekhar Rahate’s 15+ years of design experience shines through in creations that epitomize couture perfection through signature elements of exotic fabrics, luxurious and intricate detailing, ornate colors and the finest craftsmanship.

Shekhar Rahate studied Fashion Design at the Dubai Beams International Fashion School and began his career working as a high-fashion photographer. With a keen insight into how a gown is worn and ultimately photographed, he embarked on developing his own unique vision which has captivated the fashion and luxury industries worldwide. Mr. Rehate has lived and worked in some of the most influential fashion cities of the world refining his design ideals of true culturally-inspired elegance and international grace. His inimitable designs are showcased regularly at international red carpet events, fashion shows, pageants and in the global media. He is the only designer in the world to be invited by The United Nations to the prestigious General Assembly Hall at UN Headquarters in New York, supported by 450 delegates from 192 countries, to present his unique collection. His designs have been shown on the fashion runways of New York, Dubai, Paris, San Francisco and Los Angeles and are favored by many top models, media personalities and key fashion industry players. In 2012 many of his gowns were worn by celebrities at the Cannes Film Festival at at the Emmy and Academy Awards in Hollywood.

In addition to his atelier in Bevery Hills, Mr. Rehate plans to open boutiques in several US cities as well as abroad.

Mr. Rehate has organized and participated in numerous fashion shows are related events in Dubai in partnership with leading jewelry companies such as Damas, Ary, Khushi and Swarovski, as well as with renowed designers Walid Atallah and Wendell Rodricks, and in collaboration with journalist / philanthropist Jemima Khan. He has been part of many prestigious beauty events worldwide and has worked with top names in the field such as Miss World, Miss Universe, Miss Asia Pacific and many others. He was a key organizer of the International Wedding Expo (Santa Clara, CA), and was appointed Director for the Middle East region for the Global Indian Congress based in California.  He has also worked with various musical artists on their videos and concerts including UK-based singer Jazzy B, legendary Indian singers Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle, and celebrity Iranian singer Googoosh.

Recently Mr. Rehate was honored by the Cambridge “Who’s Who of America” for his superlative support of the fashion and entertainment industries.
