CFW partnered with Mood Designer Fabrics during its latest event in New York City. CFW designers visited Mood's flagship superstore in the city's bustling Garment District. Berkeley College fashion students transported mannequins draped by Juan Carlos Rios with luxurious Mood fabrics to the New Yorker Hotel, site of the CFW Fall 2013 event. Mannequins were on display throughout the event. Mood Fabrics were used in the Andres Aquino "First Lady" fashion collection and presented on the runway to an enthusiastic standing-room-only crowd and press from around the world.
Loula: One-of-a-Kind Collectibles at CFW
Designer Loula Loi Alafoyiannis will present a selection of her latest outerwear designs on the runway at CFW at 8:00 pm on Saturday February 16, 2013 in the Grand Ballroom of the New Yorker Hotel.

Marisol Henriquez to Show Passionate and Radiant Collection at CFW
Prominent Dominican designer Marisol Henriquez will present her latest collection of hand made creations at CFW at 6:00 pm on Friday February 15, 2013. Fashion Week, the prestigious New York event now entering

Allex Kangala's Latest Menswear Designs Set to Shine at CFW
Rising menswear design star Allex Kangala will present his latest collection at CFW in New York City at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday February 17, 2013. The runway fashion show will be held at the New Yorker Hotel, 481 Eighth Avenue, in the heart of the Big Apple's Fashion District.
Allex Kangala began his design career in 2003 working with the innovative menswear brand Shunnoz & Tekasala in his native Angola. In 2005 he launched his own Dianthus D'kangala label, a brand focused on classic, harmonious, spiritual and refined designs. He made his New York design debut in 2012 at Africa Fashion Week.
Prior to entering the design field, Mr. Kangala worked as a top male model, appearing on runways worldwide.

Unique Collaborative Mural Painting Led by Renowned Artist Zhang Wenxiang at CFW
CFW closed its Spring 2013 season in New York with a unique twist: a collective mural painting celebrating the event’s growing global reach. The painting was kicked off by famed artist Zhang Wenxiang who flew in from China for the occasion. The artist was introduced by Jeniffer Young, founder and president of UNESCHAF (United Nations Education Science Cultural Health Advancement Foundation). Mr. Zhang painted his own interpretation of Couture Fashion Week’s distinctive logo along with other fanciful images. The audience, designers, models and staff joined in, brushes in hand, in what became a collective mural: a mix of fine art and graffiti art.
Award-winning artist Zhang Wenxiang is widely regarded as one of China’s most outstanding living artists. His fresh and chic style combines China’s North and South Schools and fuses the strength of the ancestral painters of the East and West. His paintings are well-known for their rich poetic content. His work has been exhibited around the world at prestigious exhibitions and collections.

Catalin Botezatu Brings Latest Collection Inspired by Russian Tsarinas to Couture Fashion Week
Top European fashion designer, Catalin Botezatu will return to the CFW runway in New York City with his latest much-anticipated fashion show. The event will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2012 in the Waldorf-Astoria's Grand Ballroom.
Mr. Botezatu's latest couture collection is entitled "Tsarina" and is inspired by the elegance of Russian tsardom. The ensembles will be presented in a dramatic runway show directed by the designer. The stunning collection took two months to create, and the show takes over eight hours to prepare. The designs feature hand embroidery, heavy rich fabrics, and fine brocades as well as touches of mink and chinchilla, reminiscent of the opulence and exclusivity of the Russian imperial era.
A prolific and energetic fashion icon, Catalin Botezatu has done runway shows all over the globe. He is also a famous media and television personality in his native Romania, appearing on The Bachelor and as host of Romania's Next Top Model.

Patuna Bushyhead spent her childhood studying and performing ballet, acting, folkloric dance, classical piano, painting, and pantomime. As a teenager she served as host of two nationally broadcast TV programs in Georgia. At age 16 she entered the Tbilisi State Institute to study gynecology, and later switched her field of study to dentistry, graduating top of her class as a doctor of dental surgery. In 2008, Ms. Bushyhead made a career change from dentistry to her real passion: fashion. She is currently the owner and director of Patuna Fashion House.

It is exciting to see many fashion designers returning each season to show their powerful collections in New York during Couture Fashion Week at the Waldorf-Astoria. Among the award-winning designers returning this season were Walid Atallah (Dubai), Amal Sarieddine and Mireille Dagher (Lebanon), Nedret Taciroglu (Turkey), Sushma Patel (USA/India), Marco Marcu (Germany), Luis Machicao (USA/Peru) and Romanitza (Romania) who chose CFW as one of the events to celebrate her 20th year in the fashion industry. Designers showing for the first time at CFW included Pilar Macchione, Evgenia Luzhina-Salazar, Tammy Duffy, Eredappa, Giovanni Lopresti and Alicat by Avril Lemieux.
